Tonight’s new moon in Libra brings us to the scales: our relationships, our boundaries, and the balance between what we give and what we receive.

With Libra’s ruling planet, Venus, currently retrograde in Scorpio, we’re also looking beneath the surface. What fears, attachments, or old wounds might be influencing what we accept?

Where have you been keeping the peace at the expense of your own?

The new moon: planting a new seed

In lunar ritual work, the new moon represents beginnings, intention, and the quiet space before something grows. It’s an opportunity to pause, listen inward, and choose what you want to nurture.

You don’t need the whole plan. You need an honest starting point.

Libra: balance, relationships, and justice

Libra is represented by the scales and associated with partnership, fairness, beauty, and harmony. Ruled by Venus, it asks us to examine our values and how we give and receive love.

Its shadow can show up as people pleasing, avoiding conflict, or considering everyone else’s needs until our own disappear.

But harmony that requires you to abandon yourself is a pretty shitty deal.

Fairness includes you. Healthy compromise leaves room for both people.

Venus retrograde in Scorpio: looking beneath the surface

In astrology, Venus represents love, values, pleasure, money, and self-worth. Its retrograde cycle invites us to review these areas and reconsider familiar patterns.

Scorpio brings themes of intimacy, trust, vulnerability, shared resources, and power.

Together, they invite deeper questions:

Am I choosing from love or fear of loss? Do I feel safe being honest? Where have money, obligation, or attachment become tangled with my sense of worth?

Old feelings and relationship patterns may deserve another look. Their return doesn’t automatically mean they belong in your future.

You can feel something deeply and still take your time deciding what to do with it.

Together: restore balance by getting honest

Because Venus rules Libra, this new moon’s intentions connect to that deeper review.

Libra asks us to examine fairness. Scorpio invites us to uncover what’s influencing our choices.

Maybe you over give because you’re afraid of disappointing someone. Maybe you avoid asking for what you need because you’re afraid of the answer.

Tonight, plant an intention around how you want to relate—and leave room to learn more. A new beginning can start with revisiting an agreement, reclaiming a boundary, or changing a familiar response.

Let your feelings give you information. Give your decisions time, facts, and follow-through.

Balance the Scales: justice herbal blend

Combine these dried ingredients:

• 2 teaspoons rosemary — clarity and protection • 2 teaspoons rose petals — compassion and self-respect • 1 teaspoon lavender — calm, honest communication • 1 teaspoon crumbled bay leaf — courage and clear intention • 1 teaspoon thyme — strength and follow-through

These are the symbolic meanings we’re assigning to this ritual blend. Stir slowly and say: “May truth be clear, may fairness guide me, and may I have the courage to act with integrity.”

Place the blend in a small bowl, jar, or sachet on your altar. Keep it dry. This blend is for ritual placement, not drinking or burning.

Candle color: blue 💙

Choose a blue candle to symbolize justice, truth, and calm communication. White works as a substitute for clarity and a fresh start. A battery candle works, too.

Keep the herbs beside the candle, away from the wax and flame.

Tonight’s ritual: truth beneath the scales

Gather your candle, herbal blend, paper, and a pen.

1. Come back to yourself. Place your feet on the floor, take three slow breaths, and rest a hand over your heart. Ask, “What feels out of balance?” Notice your response without forcing an answer.

2. Look beneath the pattern. Write about these questions:

• Where am I giving more than I can comfortably offer? • What am I afraid will happen if I ask for fairness? • What would trust and mutual respect look like in practice?

3. Choose one intention. Make it something you can practice:

“I give myself time before saying yes.”

“I allow trust to grow through consistent actions.”

“I ask clearly for what I need and notice the response.”

4. Anchor it. Fold your intention toward yourself and place it beneath your bowl or jar of herbs. Light or switch on your candle and say: “I welcome truth, fairness, and mutual respect. I am willing to see beneath my patterns with compassion. I honor my needs, take responsibility for my choices, and allow trust to grow through actions. May my next steps reflect my worth.”

Sit quietly for a few minutes.

5. Give it legs. Choose one grounded action for tomorrow: review an agreement, ask a clear question, check the facts, or practice a boundary.

Close your ritual and extinguish your candle.

You don’t have to untangle every old wound tonight. Start with one honest choice.

You belong on the scales, too.
